Sodium Coco Sulfate (SCS) is an often misunderstood ingredient in the cosmetics industry. Although it is a sulfate, it is significantly different from commonly used sulfates such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES).

Organic origin. Unlike many other sulfates, SCS is derived from coconut oil. It is saponified coconut oil, which means it is made from more natural sources. This makes it a permitted ingredient in certified natural cosmetics .
